None of us are who we were yesterday. I mean, whether we are talking about the seemingly millions of yesterday's ago when we
toddled around picking dandelions and blowing their seeds all over the neighbors yard... or last weekend when I mowed my lawn and cut down the millions of dandelion's from my kids blowing the seeds all over the yard.
Each moment finds us different than the last.
Our moments are built by our yesterday's and we have this moment to enjoy. The challenge is to realize that the concussion of our actions right now, will affect, influence and build the next moment.
What I mean to say is, if I waste this moment thinking about and longing for something that was yesterday or last year, than my next moment will be more of the same. It will be built on that. Does that make sense? It will be built on that sense of loss or lacking.
We have a choice. I read a great quote from Robin Roberts where she explained a conversation she had with her mother about death and loss and her mother said, "You have a choice, you can have sad sorrow and happy sorrow". While I'm not feeling sorrowful right now, nor do I have any reason to be sad, other the empathy I feel for the losses of others ... I can honestly say, that this comment hit me very deeply.
It's a great expression for choosing how to experience sadness without being stuck.
How you respond to loss is your choice. You can have sad sorrow or happy sorrow. Similarly, some people hate roses, because they have thorns... while others love that the thorns have roses. 🙂
This is a little off topic, but I also believe that we aren't .... what we look like.
We aren't .... our physical limitations.
We aren't .... what other people think they see or think they know about us.
We are NOT our past, if we decide to take a different path... Yes, our moments have brought us here... brought you right here reading this blog post... and when you are done, the choices you make to either continue on your current path with renewed vigor or change direction with new purpose... are your choices. You have the power over the external circumstances and people or things that are trying to tell you who you are... you have the power to ... be who you are.
We ARE what we believe we are. We are awesome!
You are what you tell yourself you are! So... tell yourself how awesome you are! 🙂
I believe that each moment we waste longing for a yesterday that is gone, is a moment that we could have been enjoying and building joyful yesterday's to remember. This moment is a chance to change direction. This moment is a chance to choose.
